My daughter has a good neighbor at Nathan Road , North Brunswick – Anne Mary – a widow seventy plus years old and a dog – we call him Happy Doggy – gives her good company . Her grown up children live separately .We see her walking the dog every day and she is always dressed very meticulously and greets every one without fail . I meet her daily during my morning walks and exchange greetings .

My daughter’s second child – a boy was born on 3rd June and Anne visited her today with prior information . She brought very nice gifts for the new born . But what makes Anne Mary special is her fine gesture in bringing gifts for my daughter’s six year old daughter also !! .

Many of us do not think of the emotions a child goes through when she or he gets a younger sister or brother at home . I remember when I got my son , my daughter was 10 years old but she went into hiding immediately after my son was born , thinking that we might abandon her altogether !! .

All of us , especially the parents need to be aware of this and take special care not to hurt the feelings of the elder child when a new born arrives . Anne Mary’s small gesture is only a reminder to us in this respect .
