This is my fourth visit to the US . What attracts my attention all the time is at least 80 percent of the working population is always on the move !!. Driving in their own car most of the time . Even for leisure and social calls , the family do not mind driving out 50 to 60 miles one way and it takes less than an hour thanks to an excellent road network . 47,000 miles of State and Inter State Highways make the rail network only a poor second cousin for travel .
I see many families driving across the continent from west coast to east coast during holidays against 3 to 4 time zones in a matter of 2 or 3 days as against taking a domestic flight .
Even though the cost of fuel has almost doubled in last 6 years and cars cost much more now , the Americans cannot live without at least two cars per household and these cars are on the move most of the time !! .
Really a Country and Nation on the Move !!.
