We humans need to be mobile to live ,  prosper and survive . This was necessary even during the age of the hunters and gatherers and this requirement will stay in future as well , notwithstanding  the virtual world we are moving into thanks to the Internet and  World Wide Web .

The prime mover of any mobility is energy and the fossil fuels can soon call it a day as providers of this energy  globally . It is in this context that the 10th edition of ” Challenge Bibendum ”  staged in Brazil this time by Michelin Tyres who initiated this signature event in 1998.

The focus of this event is  sustainable mobility and the  event brings together all stake holders and players in the field of Mobility.  Reporting on the event in Brazil , Indrani Dutta  [see page 14 of The Hindu dated 28 June 2010] state that globally there are 900 million four wheelers and this is likely to touch  the figure of 1.5 Billion by 2030 .  It is therefore high time that everyone address the concerns of Sustainable and Safe  road transportation , whether you are a developed nation or developing nation .

We are all in it and it is a choice  we need to make to survive or perish !
