In the Wall Street Journal of 9th July , Robert J. Herbold of the Herbold Group , LLC and ex COO of Microsoft Corporation wrote an interesting article ‘ China Vs America : Which is the Developing Country? ”  . What caught my eye was a reference to a recruiting program by the Shanghai Academy of Sciences to get back 10,000 overseas Chinese Talents to participate in China’s research development programs . I could get more inputs from thew web site  – <www.china.org.cn>

It is rather fascinating to link here the ” Parable of Ten Thousand Talents ” with this modern effort by China. In the Biblical Story , one learns about God’s given gifts and its utilization for the good of mankind and creation of wealth where a measure of talent is interpreted in monetary terms . I am not sure , if the Chinese planners went by the parable or some other metrics to arrive at the number of 10,000 as a target . But it shows the determination of the Chinese planners in good light .

Searching further , we get to know the very impressive record of the Chinese Academy of Sciences under its current  President Prof Bai Chunli , PhD  and also about the Government’s Innovation 2020 plan in detail. When the whole world is focusing on China’s mission to achieve the World’s Number One Status in Wealth Creation and Economy , such steps by the Government is of great interest to planners and academicians all over the world .
