Some of the universal growth drivers that I have observed are Passion , Belief in one’s mission , n-ach [ need for achievement ] -courtesy David Mcclelland , Commitment , Ability to take risks , decision making and above all a People Focus . A culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship along with a scientific temper can further enhance the various competencies listed to give desired results .
Success stories of Microsoft , Google , Facebook , Twitter , Linked In , IBM , GE , The Tata Group , Sony , Toyota , Apple and Semco and now the BRIC Countries amply demonstrates the underlying GQ or Growth Quotient .
In the medical lexicon , Growth Quotient denotes the food energy utilized for physical growth which indicates basically the quality and need for food intake to grow physically . But in the cases of growth enumerated above , we cannot assume such linearity of relationship and should explore composite and multiple level correlations to establish a GQ .
