I was privileged to be a guest of honor and shared the dais with my friend A V Ramam of Cognizant who was the chief guest at the inauguration of the 6th edition of the annual TECH FEST at BVRIT – PROMETHEAN 2012 on the 9th of March 2012.
BV Raju Institute of Technology at Narsapur , Medak District , Andhra Pradesh , India is a premier engineering college run by the progressive Sri Vishnu Education Society under the chairmanship of the visionary Mr Vishnu Raju . The college is a role model in the state for quality education and have many laurels to its credit like the Assistive Technology Lab in collaboration with UMASS , USA , a new solar energy research lab in partnership with a Norway firm , a Rand D unit for Cement Technology , and many more initiatives which have come up over a period of time which I have witnessed during my many visits to the college during the last decade.
The TECH FEST this year had more than 600 participants from colleges all over India and a cursory look at the package of papers, products and innovations reveal that the organizers have done a commendable job in capturing the essence of the emerging technology trends and could show case a wide spectrum of offerings for the overall benefit of all concerned.
This is very important for an engineering college in keeping with the technological developments which otherwise do not get covered in the standard curriculum . Besides, such an event also develops the entrepreneur in a student and equips him or her to take up marketable ideas and innovations as projects during their stay with the college . More over , the overall BUZZ created through this event was really inspiring . Hats off to the great passion and energy displayed by the BVRIT Team under the able leadership of the Principal Dr [ Col] T S Surendra.
On the whole , myself and Ramam enjoyed our date with BVRIT and look forward to many such events in the future as well.
