Late Raj Kapoor was a great movie maker and director in his times . In his movie ” Shri 420 ” , a great satire on society and cheats thriving on other ‘s follies , he himself plays the role of a ” honest con man ” .There is a hilarious scene in this movie where he visits a noisy vegetable market in down town Bombay . A vegetable vendor , an elderly woman [ played by late Lalita Powar ] keeps shouting ” 2 annas for 3 ” announcing the going rate of a popular vegetable . [anna was the coin popular then ,16 annas to a rupee] . The woman keeps repeating the price for buyers to note . Raj kapoor walks upto her and asks her – Sister , will you give me 2 for 3 annas ? . The woman shoos him away angrily and tell him to take 3 for 2 annas or leave . No bargaining !!.
Raj Kapoor asks her to consider this offer carefully but she shouts him off . After he leaves the scene , and when she is free , she reflects over the offer and realizes her folly .
Through this scene , Raj Kapoor gives us a great lesson , relevant to all walks of life . The MINDSET Problem which causes resistance to change . Any opportunity which does not fall within a pre – conceived frame work or imagined boundary is likely to be discounted first . We may miss the opportunity all together , if we are not on our guard .
