Bhajee – Harbhajan Singh does it again at Hyderabad ! When he scored his maiden century at Ahmedabad last week against New Zealand , every one congratulated him for achieving his long cherished dream but did not ponder much over it beyond that knowing fully well that he is in the team not for this but for taking good wickets and win matches through his great spin bowling . But , the way he carried his bat with an unbeaten century plus at Hyderabad with seven sixes and an equal number of boundaries ably supported by another bowler Shreesant and creating a new record 10th wicket partnership also in the process made all cricket lovers stand up and applaud . A rare event indeed !
Both Harbhajan and Shreeshant have also made news in the past for their penchant for expletives both on and off the field and are really strange bedfellows rather than a two some batting partners . In this context , it was very amusing to see how Harbhajan controlled the batting and how Shreeshant played the tune at times even returning all the way to his position after taking a run ostensibly to save the partnership .
The best compliment for this performance came from none other than Vettori , the New Zealand Captain when he publicly acknowledged that the partnership derailed all his plans for the second test . Harbhajan in fact played a major part in the outcomes of both the Ahmedabad and Hyderabad tests in a role other than what he is expected to do in the team .
