Today’s landmark verdict by the Supreme Court of India cancelling 122 licenses issued during the tenure of A Raja , the Minister for Telecommunications [ now in jail charge sheeted with corruption in the 2G scam] gives us hope and a renewed faith in the independence and highest trust on the country’s judicial system. It is also a very strong indictment of the functioning of the Congress Government at the Center .
During the last three years , the now infamous 2 G Scam has affected not only the economy but the very moral fabric of this nation. It finally required a knowledgeable politician like Subramanian Swamy to bring the facts to the notice of the Apex court . Today’s verdict will go a long way to boost our standing and stature in the global business scene and augurs well for the future of the Nation.
Until very recently , with a politically motivated and largely corrupt bureaucracy , cast based and decadent political system compromising on principles for the sake of coalition factors , inept police , the citizen’s of this country used to look up to the Armed Forces as the Sentinel upholding high morals and commitment in the glorious traditions of this nation . However , this has taken a beating recently with a number of scams and goof ups displaying the vulnerability of the system .
In the above context , the Supreme Court now remains the last ” Sentinel ” for India .
